PREPARING FOR YOUR WINDOW REPLACEMENT!

So, you have decided to take the plunge and have your Cupertino, CA, home windows replaced—exciting! Any time a new project is underway to elevate the look and quality of the home it is exhilarating.

Whether you are simply ready for an upgrade, you have old and broken windows needing replacement, or you are trying to reduce your high electricity bills, you’ll accomplish all three goals with windows from The Screen Shop. Our team has handled countless window replacement projects over the years and we would love to work with you, too!

But, how much thought have you given to the process of actually having your windows replaced by a professional? Take it from us: it is always a good idea to take some time to prep for the arrival of your Screen Shop pro and here are some tips to help you help them be as efficient as possible!

Tip: make room
In a whole-home replacement project, all of your existing windows are going to be removed. Of course, you will not be the person to remove them, as you know. But, there is more to window removal than opening the door for your installation crew. For example, you need to move everything near your windows out of the way. This includes furniture, picture frames on the walls nearby, area rugs, etc. If you have anything outside near the window—move them. Examples: wreaths, ladders, moveable flower pots, etc.

Tip: take treatments down
In addition to moving furniture, picture frames, and outdoor items, the window treatments need to come down. The means you will need to remove blinds, shades, curtains, etc. Most times, the hardware can stay on—be sure to check with your Screen Shop team before doing so.

Protect and cover
Window replacement projects are dirty work. If you work with our team, we will take the steps to ensure your floors and belongings are protected from damage or stains. Not all companies go to this length, however; you will want to check with your contractor to see if they suggest you take steps to cover your own belongings and floor.

Tip: be home
Be sure to make the proper arrangements to ensure you or another adult resident is home during the installation process. In the event there is an issue or emergency or even a simple question that needs to be answered—your presence will make the entire process more efficient. Further, for liability purposes, being present during the install is just, well, a good idea.
